Come visit our gorgeous private gardens from Amberley to Gore Bay, Hawarden to Hanmer Springs, many within just one hour’s drive of Christchurch and the airport. While you’re enjoying our gardens and warm country hospitality, we hope you’ll sample our wineries, cafes, and the natural attractions that make Hurunui District such a great place to visit.
The Garden Festival is open Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November 2020, from 9am to 5pm each day. Please note 4 gardens are not opening on Thursday – check listings in this guide and website.
It costs adults $10 to visit each garden, payable on the day as you enter the garden. Children 18 years of age and under accompanied by an adult may enter for free. Please have cash with you, as the gardens cannot process electronic payments. Alternately you can purchase a 10 ticket admission pack below.
Some gardens are hosting events during the Festival. A calendar of events is on page 26-28 in this Guide. Garden owners hosting events have also included information on their individual garden page.
Planning your visit
The gardens are arranged into 6 geographically based clusters, making it easy for you to plan your visit to multiple gardens. Each cluster has its own detailed map in this Guide, showing you the precise location of the gardens, along with other useful information, such as the locations of public toilets, petrol and diesel stations, and food outlets.
What you’ll find at each garden
We’ve designed a series of ‘icons’ to summarise key details about each garden (such as toilets) so you can see at a glance what to expect when you visit.
Please note: Upon purchase, one of our team will get in contact and post your physical tickets to you.
Online tour tickets close Friday 16th October to allow for postage.
