The Learning Curve
Jane and Tom’s colourful, fun, and calming garden has been created over the last three years. It has been a huge learning process with many curves incorporated in the design. The original concept was to maintain the magnificent vistas in a rural environment, incorporating ideas from local designers, as well as ideas from gardens in New Zealand and overseas.
Upon their arrival Jane and Tom completely reconstructed the original derelict garden which fortunately had some mature trees. They dug out spring filled ponds, restructured the lawns and garden beds. They established a new driveway, courtyard, swimming pool, and raised vegetable gardens. This all occurred whilst renovating the cottage.
What Jane and Tom have achieved is a colourful, non-fussy garden, full of expressive energy. This exercise has been achieved in a short time and will be enjoyed throughout the seasons. It is productive, functional, and loved by all generations.
Original garden sculptures created by Tom and Jane are scattered throughout the garden. Jane’s artist studio has works for sale and a variety of workshops will be part of this gardens experience throughout the garden festival.
This is an ongoing project with many developments to come. Watch this space!
