Tipapa Historic Homestead
40 Motunau Beach Road, Greta Valley
Experience Beautiful Tipapa Homestead
The beautiful 2-storey Tipapa homestead was completed in 1928 on the site of a previous homestead built in the 1880s. Original owners the Acton-Adams contracted Heathcote Helmore to design their new home, inspired by the holiday homes of wealthy Americans on the east coast of the USA, with light, space and views of the garden from every room. The Acton-Adams planted thousands of trees on Tipapa, which originally covered around 18,00 acres. Today the last remnant of that station is the valley surrounding the house, with a historic woolshed and variety of tree species surrounding a parklike garden where weddings and other celebrations are held. Jane and Stewart take responsibility to not only look after her, but also to share the experience of this beautiful and tranquil historic home.
Visitors should be aware that they must climb stairs to view the second level, and we recommend wearing non-slip socks inside. Private areas are excluded from the tour.
